LA ALBUFERA, AROUND THE CORNER

DISCOVER ITS DIVERSE ECOSYSTEMS

The Albufera Natural Park, located just 12 km south of Valencia, features the largest fresh water lake in Spain and is considered a paradise for migratory birds and other native species.

The landscape of the Albufera has different ecosystems that change throughout the seasons. Special mention to the huge expanse of rice fields that are part of this park; the rice is planted in spring, in summer it grows, in autumn it is collected and in winter we leave the fields to rest to prepare for its planting the following spring.

BOAT RIDE AND EL PALMAR

THE CRADLE OF THE VALENCIAN PAELLA

The visit to the Albufera can be completed by visiting a “barraca”, a typical dwelling of the farmers of the area, as well as a visit to the visitor center of the Park (subject to availability) including a walk through the forest of the Dehesa that takes us to the bird observatory. It is also possible to have a meal in a typical Albufera restaurant. El Palmar is the ideal place to try authentic Valencian paella.
